Preparation

  • Roll out the refrigerated pie crusts and cut them into 4-5 inch circles.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  • Take a spoonful of the apple mixture and place it in the center of each pie crust circle.
  • Fold the crust over the apple filling and pinch the edges tightly to seal.

Cooking

  • Heat the oil over medium heat and test readiness by dropping in a small piece of dough.
  • Carefully place the sealed apple bombs into the hot oil, frying them until golden brown for about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  • Remove them from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Finishing Touches

  • Brush tops of the bombs with beaten egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
