  • 1 pound ground beef Tender and juicy
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Fragrant and healthy

  • 1 teaspoon cumin Warm and earthy
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Rich and smoky
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder Providing a gentle heat
  • to taste none Salt and pepper Enhancing all flavors
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Creamy and melty

For the Dough

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts) Creating the perfect flaky exterior
  • 1 egg beaten For a golden finish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until softened.
  • Add the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks, until browned.
  • Stir in the cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
  • Unroll the pie crusts and cut out 4-inch circles.

Assembly and Baking

  • Place a spoonful of the beef mixture and some cheese in the center of each circle.
  • Fold and seal with a fork, pressing the edges firmly.
  • Transfer the empanadas to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush with the beaten egg.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

Chill the empanadas for a few minutes before baking for better shape retention. For healthier options, substitute ground beef with lean turkey or add diced vegetables.
