Preparation

  • Heat the butter and olive oil together in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  • Slowly pour in the vegetable broth and heavy cream, seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Bring to a gentle bubble over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the broccoli florets and cook for another 5 minutes until tender.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Let sit for a couple of minutes before serving warm.

Notes
