Ingredients

Pasta and Shrimp

  • 12 ounces uncooked fettuccine noodles long strands that soak up the flavorful sauce
  • 1 pound jumbo shrimp (peeled and deveined) tender morsels of seafood

For the Sauce

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons Creole seasoning blend zesty mix that infuses the dish with Cajun flavors
  • 2 tablespoons butter for a rich, creamy base
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced adds sweetness and texture
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced enhances the dish's aroma
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth adds depth to the sauce
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream creates a luscious, creamy texture
  • 2/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese for a nutty flavor and creamy finish

Garnish

  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Cooking Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, drain the noodles and set aside.

Preparing Shrimp

  • Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel and season them generously with Creole seasoning.
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat until it begins to bubble slightly.
  • Add the sliced shallots and sauté for about 5 minutes until softened and translucent.
  • Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink, stirring in minced garlic during the last 30 seconds.

Making the Sauce

  • Remove the shrimp mixture from the skillet and set aside. Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a gentle simmer, allowing it to reduce by half, which takes about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, letting it simmer gently until it thickens slightly.
  • Whisk in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese until it melts smoothly into the sauce.

Combining the Dish

  • Add the cooked shrimp and fettuccine to the skillet, tossing them with the sauce until fully coated.
  • Finish the dish with a sprinkle of chopped fresh parsley for garnish. Serve immediately.

Notes

For healthier alternatives, substitute heavy cream with coconut milk or a lower-fat cream. Use whole wheat pasta for added fiber and consider adding seasonal vegetables like spinach or bell peppers.
