For the Jell-O Mixture

  • 3 oz cherry Jell-O Provides that refreshing burst of cherry flavor.
  • 1 cup boiling water Dissolves the Jell-O powder.
  • 1/2 cup cold water Balances the temperature of the Jell-O mixture.

For the Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 8 oz block cream cheese Offers a rich and tangy frosting base.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sweetens the cream cheese frosting.
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream Creates a luscious whipped cream texture.

For the Topping

  • 21 oz can cherry pie filling The delightful topping with juicy cherries.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Follow the instructions on the box of white cake mix using large egg whites, water, and vegetable oil. Stir until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 28-32 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow your cake to cool for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Poke holes into the cake with a wooden spoon or straw, about 1 inch apart.

Making the Jell-O

  • Dissolve the 3 oz box of cherry Jell-O in 1 cup of boiling water, then whisk in 1/2 cup of cold water.
  • Pour the Jell-O mixture over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

Making the Frosting

  • In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Gradually add the heavy cream and continue beating until fluffy.
  • Spread the cream cheese frosting over the top of the cake.

Serving

  • Top the frosted cake with the cherry pie filling.
  • Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

Store covered in the refrigerator for freshness. Can be frozen for up to 3 months. To reheat, thaw overnight before serving. Experiment with different flavored Jell-O or use whipped cream for frosting.
