Ingredients

For the bread

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar rich and sweet
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon aromatic and warm
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar adding sweetness and moisture
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened and creamy
  • 2 large eggs providing richness
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract fragrant and inviting
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour the foundation for your bread
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder which gives the bread a lovely lift
  • 1/2 cup milk adding moisture and softness

For the apple mixture

  • 2 large apples peeled and chopped for a juicy bite
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar for apples to enhance their natural sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for apples infusing their flavor

For the glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for that perfect glaze
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk for glaze to achieve a silky consistency

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan to ensure your bread comes out effortlessly.
  • In a small bowl, combine the light brown sugar and ground cinnamon. This mixture will form a delightful swirl throughout your bread.
  • In another bowl, mix the chopped apples with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugars and softened butter until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract, ensuring everything is well combined and silky.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.

Layering and Baking

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Layer it with half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture and half of the apple mixture. Repeat this process with the remaining batter and toppings.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Glazing

  • For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle it generously over the cooled bread.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Using a mix of apple varieties will enhance the flavor. Nuts can be added for extra crunch.
