Ingredients
  

Dessert Base

  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese Creamy and rich, adds velvety texture.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Gives the dessert a fluffy quality.
  • 1/2 cup Limoncello liqueur or fresh lemon juice For alcohol-free version, use fresh lemon juice.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Balances the tartness of lemon.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds warmth to flavor.

Layering

  • 1 package ladyfinger cookies Crispy, sponge-like cookies.
  • 1/2 cup brewed coffee Adds depth and richness.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest Provides aromatic citrus kick.
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice Invigorates the dessert.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese and sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the heavy cream into the mixture and beat until soft peaks form.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.

Layering

  • In a shallow dish, mix the brewed coffee with Limoncello or lemon juice.
  • In another bowl, mix lemon zest with lemon juice.
  • Carefully dip the ladyfinger cookies in the coffee mixture and layer them in a serving dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat the layering process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Chill

  • Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

Finish

  • Before serving, garnish with the lemon zest and juice mixture.

Notes

For added zest, a teaspoon of lemon extract can be included in the mascarpone mixture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze before garnishes for up to a month.
