Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg and maple syrup until well combined.
  • In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just incorporated.
  • If using, fold in the chopped nuts.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them two inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
