Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef bursting with juiciness
  • 1/2 cup diced onion adding sweetness and depth
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper bringing in a hint of crunch
  • 5 to 6 cloves minced garlic for that aromatic kick
  • 2 teaspoons salt enhancing all the flavors
  • to taste pepper and garlic blend seasoning for that extra zest
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste giving the dish a rich base
  • 16 oz tomato sauce adding depth and tanginess
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce for umami perfection
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar balancing out the flavors beautifully
  • 1/2 cup ketchup ensuring a classic taste

Topping

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese for topping the meat
  • 11.36 oz box Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix for that fluffy texture
  • 1 cup milk can use water also
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese for biscuit batter
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter to brush over the top
  • 1 packet seasoning packet from the biscuit mix packed with flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink.
  • Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic; sauté until the beef is thoroughly cooked and the vegetables are tender.
  • Drain any excess grease.
  • Season the meat with salt, pepper, and garlic blend. Stir in the tomato paste and let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and ketchup; allow to simmer for a few minutes.

Assembly

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the biscuit mix, milk (or water), and 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until just mixed.
  • Spread the savory meat mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese evenly over the meat mixture.
  • Gently spread the biscuit batter over the cheese layer.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is golden brown.
  • Mix the melted butter with the biscuit seasoning and brush it over the golden topping.

Notes

For an even more robust flavor, consider adding chopped jalapeños or use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option. Great to serve with coleslaw or a fresh garden salad.
