Preparation

  • Preheat your skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
  • In a bowl, combine ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently.
  • Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties, about 1 inch thick.

Cooking

  • Cook the patties on the skillet or grill for 3-4 minutes on each side. Add a slice of cheese on each patty during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • In a separate skillet, sauté jalapeños and onions until tender, about 4-5 minutes.

Assembly

  • Let the burgers rest for a few minutes and toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
  • Assemble by placing a patty on each bun and topping with sautéed jalapeños and onions.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to ensure patties reach 160°F. Consider marinating meat before mixing spices. Serve with BBQ sauce or spicy mayo for extra flavor. To reduce heat, remove jalapeño seeds or use milder peppers.
